Peak Performance High Altitude Organic Coffee. No Pesticides, Fair Trade, Non GMO, and Beans Full Of Antioxidants! Medium Roast Low Acid Smooth Tasting USDA Certified Organic Ground Coffee 12oz Bag
  • FAIR TRADE - USDA CERTIFIED ORGANIC - SINGLE ORIGIN - HIGH ALTITUDE. IF WE COULD MAKE THIS COFFEE ANY HEALTHIER WE WOULD! MEDIUM ROAST. ALSO COMES WITH FREE SPECIAL REPORT CALLED "HOW TO MAKE THE HEALTHIEST CUP OF COFFEE"
  • Healthy Coffee Rule #1) Always Go Organic. Why? Because conventional coffee is one of the most heavily treated crops with pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides. One of the many health risks with these chemicals is that they can act as "xenoestrogens" in your body disrupting hormone balance for both men and women.
  • Healthy Coffee Rule #2) Coffee Grown At High Altitude Is Better. Why? Because the higher the altitude the coffee is grown at, the denser the bean. You may have heard the term "Strictly Hard Bean" (SHB) which denotes an especially dense, high-altitude coffee. This Peak Performance Organic Coffee grown in the Guatemalan Highlands is a perfect example of this. This higher elevation bean is more dense and thus of a higher quality grade. High Altitude Coffee also tends to have more antioxidants!
  • Healthy Coffee Rule #3) Single Origin Coffee Is Better. Why? Because while "Blended" Coffee like a "Breakfast Blend" might sound cool... there's a much higher likelihood that at least one of the bean varieties that went into that blend was contaminated (coffee has been commonly known to be contaminated with energy robbing mold), meaning the entire batch is now contaminated.

Organic coffee

Organic coffee is usually certified by several companies and with one of the major one being USDA an agriculture department in the USA. Coffee certified by this company must be at least being grown under the organic conditions 95 percent.

For the organic coffee farmers, they are not to use any form of artificial products on their coffee crops to increase fertility, yields, remove weed or protect the crops against diseases and pests. Coffee is organic labeled only if in the last three years no chemicals have been applied to the coffee beans.

Producers of organic coffee

Seventy five percent of the total organic coffee produced worldwide is sourced from the Latin American countries. Other countries producing organic coffee include some Asian and African countries like Ethiopia and Indonesia.

Peru was once a leading organic coffee producing in the country with about 423 000 bags in the year 2010 as exports. Mexico produces 100 000 bags annually as well as Honduras. Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia and Brazil are also great organic coffee producers.

In Latin America, organic coffee farming is very promising. Due to the increasing demand of the organic products some investors are offering finance services with affordable interests to the farmers to boost organic production. Initially like in 2010, some of the organic coffee farmers were embracing conventional farming.

For any coffee to be exported to the USA as organic, organic certification is a must.

Other conditions for selling coffee beans in the USA as organic

The farm where the coffee crop is grown or crop itself should not have been in contact with any form of synthetic pesticide among other products that are certified at a period of three years prior the harvesting of the coffee.

There is big enough difference that is between the coffee grown as organic and that is near organic but conventional crop.

A plan for crop rotation which is sustainable should be adopted so as to prevent soil erosion, loss of nutrients or fertility by soil and also have the pests controlled naturally.

Environment standards that organic coffees should fulfill

Standards put forth for organic coffee production are to give assurance to the coffee consumers that the coffee the coffee is naturally pure with no traces of artificial products that may be health hazardous. The fact that the coffees are grown in eco-friendly environment and are promoting the biodiversity of the places they are farmed is just a bonus though the two go hand on hand.

In traditional farming practices at a certain time, coffee farming was absolutely organic. Through organic coffee farming practice, the amount of fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides getting into the soil is reduced and forest cover maintained with reduced soil erosion.

Coffee grown organically is wild and best quality since it can only grow in the best conditions like high elevations, fertile soils, and enough rainfall and moderate temperatures which ensure natural maturity of the coffee plants without being chemically boosted.

How organic coffee farming promote biodiversity

Organic farming for any crop will make the environment strong to resist plant diseases. One of the reason for this is the fact that crop grown using this standards is basically grown under shades cover which help preserve the forests and vegetation cover.

This kind of farming will also reduce erosion of soil promoting a very stable eco-system. Birds grow in population because of the favorable habitants helping to devour the insect populace at the same time having the soil get fertilized naturally.

Sad story for the organic producers

To have your coffee certified as organic, some costs are involved which not everyone can afford. In some regions, farmers produce organic coffee not by choice but because they cannot afford the synthetic farming products to improve on their coffee quality and quantity. Though such farmers produce the most pure organic coffee, they cannot also afford to pay for yearly inspections of their coffee farms in order to have their coffee certified.

For this reason the farmers sell their coffee as inorganic thus not getting good return on their coffee like they should.

Worse still, it is very hard to make conclusion that a farm did not use the farming chemicals with just one year inspection which is the regular. Maybe/maybe not that some of the coffees certified as organic are not even fifty percent organic.

Advantage of organic coffee farming to farmers

Though organic farming is merely focused at ensuring improving the quality of coffee beans naturally, it is evident that working conditions of the farmers are also made better. Those working in the coffee plantation do not have to interact with dangerous chemicals.

Use of organic fertilizers for coffee growing

Organic fertilizers are one of the factors determine whether or not to certify coffee as organic. They lower the soil bulk density increasing the soil fertility as well as reduce the soil erosion. The bottom line of this is that the organic fertilizer does not only help the current crop yield, but also for the next one. Coffee pulp is a very important nutrient that can be put back in the soil after pealing it from the coffee bean. This is being practiced by most organic producers.

Other organic sources are cattle manual, bio green, bocachi, compost and chicken manual and are very cheap. Organic fertilizers vary I prices very much plus the cost for transporting them very high playing as a hindrance for getting it. In general though, they are very cheap for long run use reason being they help future crop growth by replenishing the soil nutrients.

One of the problems of the organic manure is that they release nutrients relatively slow and sometimes do not give the nutrients when the crops need it and may slow the crop growth but in the long run it improves production.
